Your family's privacy

Privacy Policy

We care deeply about the families who trust us, and that includes how we look after your information. This policy explains what we collect, why, how we keep it safe, and the choices you have.

Effective 8 October 2026

1. Who we are

Legacy, Love & Learning is a family learning program for children from 18 months to 9 years, operated by Mariana Tana (ABN 19 269 473 362), Australia. We currently welcome families in Australia and New Zealand. For New Zealand purposes, our Privacy Officer is Mariana Tana.

We are not yet offering our programs in the United Kingdom. Before we do, we will put in place everything UK privacy law requires, including appointing a UK representative and registering with the Information Commissioner's Office, and update this policy.

If you have any questions, we'd love to hear from you at hello@legacyloveandlearning.com.

2. Our approach to children's information

Legacy is designed for parents and carers. Adults hold the account and make the choices; children never need their own login, email address or password.

We only ask for what we need about your child to recommend the right program and keep their learning age-appropriate, such as a first name or nickname and their age. We don't ask for full dates of birth, school records, health information or photographs of your child, and we never use your child's information for advertising.

We also keep to a firm faceless-children policy: we never publish images in which a child's face can be identified.

3. What we collect

When you enquire or enrol

Your name, email address, your child's age, the program and tier you're interested in, your country, and anything you choose to share in your message.

When you become a member

Your account details, your child's profile (a first name or nickname, age or school year, and program progress), your membership tier, payment status and our conversations with you. Card details are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

When you visit our website

Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar tools.

If you join our mailing list

Your email address and your marketing preferences.

4. How we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiry and recommend the right program and tier
  • To set up and look after your membership and deliver your weekly activities through the Legacy portal
  • To process payments, renewals and refunds
  • To support you if something isn't working
  • To keep our website and portal secure
  • To understand how families use Legacy so we can keep improving it
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations
  • To send you news and updates, only where you've agreed or the law allows

5. Emails from us

We always separate the essential emails about your membership (receipts, program updates, important changes) from marketing. Marketing emails are only sent in line with Australia's Spam Act 2003 and New Zealand's Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, and every one includes an easy unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing won't affect your membership.

6. Who we share information with

We never sell your information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run Legacy, and only as much as they need:

  • Squarespace (our website and enquiry forms)
  • Softr and Codex (the Legacy member portal and its database)
  • Stripe (secure payments)
  • Mailchimp (email)

We may also share information where the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or with your permission.

7. Where your information is stored

Legacy is based in Australia, and some of our providers store information overseas (for example, in the United States). When that happens, we choose providers who protect personal information to a standard consistent with this policy and the law.

8. Cookies

Our website uses cookies to make it work properly and to help us understand how it's used. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as smoothly without them.

9. How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it: while you're with us, and afterwards for as long as the law requires (for example, financial records). When it's no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

10. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure, reputable providers, limited access and strong passwords. No online system is ever completely risk-free, but if something did go wrong, we would act quickly and let you know where the law requires.

11. Your choices and rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (unless we need to keep it by law). Just email hello@legacyloveandlearning.com and we'll help. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first; we'd really like the chance to put it right. You can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or, in New Zealand, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

12. Changes to this policy

As Legacy grows, this policy may change. We'll always post the latest version here with its effective date, and let you know directly if a change significantly affects you.
